Two weddings, a divorce and a failed recording deal with Columbia Records later, the Hardkiss boys are back with a slew of summer fun time releases. Yes, Hardkiss have been released from the shackles of their Columbia contract. Yes, the name Hardkiss is in tact and theirs to keep. And yes, there will be 3 new Robbie and Gavin Hardkiss releases on Sunburn during the summer 2001.
"Don´t Touch That" is the new Sunburn 12" produced by Robbie Hardkiss and San Francisco DJ Laron. It follows in the same vein as last summers single "Champagne Beat boogie" (featured in the movie "Groove") demonstrating a lighthearted approach to the dancefloor that will leave serious music afficionados weak in the knees.
The new 12" continues Boozy + Swans foray into 70´s influenced down-dirty-funky-house. A groove that is fully captured in the their debut album which will be released in the very near future (no release date). There are also new B-side remixes of "Champagne Beat Boogie" which add a dubbier even more wobbly aspect to the drunken originals. Robbie Hardkiss is best known for his groove-oriented deep and funky DJ sets that he has performed in cities around North America for the last 10 years. As the youngest Hardkiss brother he has recorded tracks under the guise Little Wing for the Hardkiss imprint. He currently resides in Austin Texas where he is completing the Boozie album.
Laron has been a feature on the San Francisco scene for the last seven years. He DJs regularly at nights like Psychofunkodiscodelic, Black Diamond, Nikita, Community and Le Freak. He has released 12" for labels like Fiji, 360, Primal, Green Gorilla, Rachdingue (Spain), Frisky and Golden Gate Records.
More Boozy funk from Robbie Hardkiss and San Francisco DJ allstar Laron. Heavy guitar leads and meaty bass on this house/new school cut. The B-side has two dubbier remixes of last summer's "Champagne Beat Boogie."
